Artangel presenta dal 22 maggio al 1 luglio una mostra speciale dell’artista israeliana Yael Bartana alla Hornsey Town Hall nel Crouch End di Londra. ‘And Europe Will Be Stunned,’ questo il titolo della mostra è una trilogia di film realizzati in Polonia tra il 2007 e il 2011 che ruota intorno alle attività del Movimento per il rinascimento ebraico in Polonia, un gruppo politico che richiede il ritorno di 3,300,000 ebrei nella terra dei loro padri. La trilogia è composta dai film: Mary Koszmary (Nightmares), Mur I Wieża (Wall and Tower) Zamach (Assassination). L’ardito progetto dell’artista si muove tra finzione e realtà, sogno e allucinazione, creando una connessione tra un passato traumatico a un futuro preoccupante e aprendo un dibattito sull’indipendenza nazionale e il concetto di patria in Europa e nell’Est. La mostra comprende anche una serie di talk che indagano i temi che Bartana affronta nei suoi lavori.

From 22 may to 1 July, Artangel presents a special exhibition of Israeli artist Yael Bartana‘s at Hornsey Town Hall in London’s Crouch End. ‘And Europe Will Be Stunned’, this is the title of the exhibition is a trilogy of films made in Poland between 2007 and 2011, that revolves around the activities of the Jewish Renaissance Movement in Poland (JRMiP), a political group that calls for the return of 3,300,000 Jews to the land of their forefathers. The trilogy is composed by begins with Mary Koszmary (Nightmares), Mur I Wieża (Wall and Tower) Zamach (Assassination). Her bold project blurs fiction and reality, dream and alllucination, connects traumatic pasts to worrying futures and opens up debates about nationhood and homelands in Europe and the Middle East. The exhibion will also include a series of talks exploring themes that Bartana addresses in her films.
