Dal 19 gennaio al 12 maggio la DHC/ART Gallery di Montreal presenterà la mostra di  Thomas Demand dal titolo Animations, a cura di John Zeppetelli. Il noto artista tedesco è famosi per le sue fotografie come per i lavori con immagini in movimento che attirano lo spettatore in una realtà che non è ciò che sembra. Le fotografie di grande formato e i video sono il risultato finale di una deviazione tortuosa iniziata con l’immaginario dei media (fotogiornalismo e footage di videosorveglianza) che riproduce una scena di intrigo politico o di altre infrazioni. I video sono per la maggior parte delle animazioni in stop-motion che si compongono di migliaia di fotografie, alterate frame by frame. In programma: Recorder (2002) and Escalator (2001),  Pacific Sun (2012), Camera (2007), Rain (2008).

From January 19 to May 12, 2013 DHC/ART Gallery (Montreal) will present Thomas Demand show titled Animations, curated by John Zeppetelli. The well-known German artist is widely acclaimed for photographic and moving image works that lure the viewer into a reality that is not what it appears to be. The large format photos and films are the end result of a circuitous detour beginning with media imagery (photojournalism or surveillance video footage) depicting a scene of political intrigue or other malfeasance —through to a carefully rendered sculpture to re-emerge as the same, yet-not-quite-the-same, photograph. The films follow the same conceptual logic. For the most part, they are a series of stop-motion animations consisting of dozens to thousands of individual photographs, with frame-by-frame alterations.The screening includes: Recorder (2002) and Escalator (2001)   Pacific Sun (2012). Camera (2007) Rain (2008).

Dal 14 giugno fino al 18 novembre 2012 la DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art di 
Montreal (Canada) presenta la prima mostra di Ryoji Ikeda in Nord America. Il poeta dell’era digitale, è uno dei pochi artisti internazionali capace di lavorare in maniera completa ed efficace sia con il visual che con il suono. Per questa mostra Ikeda ha creato due diverse situazioni nei due edifici della DHC/ART Foundation. Nello spazio principale mostrerà lavori incorniciati, light boxes e sculture. Nello spazio Satellite invece, presenterà progetti audiovideo, orchestrati come un insieme sinfonico.

From June 14 November 18, 2012 DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art Montreal (Canada)
 presents Ryoji Ikeda’s first survey exhibition in North America. The poet of the digital age is one of the few international artists working convincingly across both visual and sonic media. In occasion of this show a conceptual counterpoint between DHC/ART’s two buildings He has conceived in main space a display with framed works, light boxes, sculptural works. In the Satellite space Ikeda will present audiovisual projects, orchestrated as a symphonic whole.
