Si conclude domani 27 maggio la rassegna che punta lo sguardo sulla videoarte africana presso la Sala videoarte del Lu.C.C.A. – Lucca Center of Contemporary Art – Lucca Italia – ( ingresso libero). ‘Still Fighting Ignorance & Intellectual Perfidy’ è un progetto ideato dal giovane curatore togolese Kisito Assangni che ha coinvolto 15 videoartisti africani che vivono tra Africa, Europa e America: Jude Anogwih, Younes Baba-Ali, Saidou Dicko, Ndoye Douts, Kokou Ekouagou, Mohamed El Baz, Samba Fall, Nicene Kossentini, Kai Lossgott, Michele Magma, Nathalie Mba Bikoro, Johan Thom, Saliou Traoré, Guy Woueté, Ezra Wube. In un’era di migrazione inter-culturale, la mostra indaga il problema del rapporto tra il sé e la società. I temi affrontati dalla maggior parte dei video riguardano infatti i concetti di diversità, identità, tolleranza e socialità. Gli artisti riflettono sul significato di “luogo” e sul proprio senso di appartenenza partendo dal presupposto che viviamo in un mondo sempre più interconnesso.

Sunday 27 May is the last day of the exhibition that focuses on  African videoart at Sala videoarte of Lu.C.C.A. – Lucca Center of Contemporary Art (free entry). ‘Still Fighting Ignorance & Intellectual Perfidy’ is a project ideated by  the young curator from Togo Kisito Assangni, who involves 15  african videoartists living between Africa, Europe and America: Jude Anogwih, Younes Baba-Ali, Saidou Dicko, Ndoye Douts, Kokou Ekouagou, Mohamed El Baz, Samba Fall, Nicene Kossentini, Kai Lossgott, Michele Magma, Nathalie Mba Bikoro, Johan Thom, Saliou Traoré, Guy Woueté, Ezra Wube. In a inter-cultural migration era, the exhibition  provides a meeting point for knowledge and interest in the relationship between self and society. Most works address issues of alterity, identity, tolerance and social relationships as artists reflexively consider their sense of place and belonging in an increasingly interconnected world.

Time Is Love, progetto video itinerante a cura di Kisito Assangni, ospitato nel corso degli anni da diverse gallerie e fondazioni in tutto il mondo, approda per l’anteprima della sua quinta edizione a Milano presso [.Box] Videoart Project Space (dal 10 al 30 gennaio 2012), mentre il14 gennaio sarà presentato nello spazio Savvy Contemporary Art di Berlino. In mostra le opere di 30 artisti che indagano il tema dell’amore.

‘La nuova edizione di Time is Love affronta le difficoltà, che l’uomo su questa terra incontra nell’amare. Semplicemente amore. Relazionarsi con l’Altro non è cosa facile oggigiorno. Assistiamo a una concentrazione di individualismo, a una solidarietà che viene meno, nonché a una evidente indifferenza per l’Altro. L’amore è un tema universale nel suo atto di raggiungere ognuno. Esso va di pari passo con le grandi sofferenze umane: il rifiuto, la solitudine, il male, la vendetta, la minaccia, la delusione, la vergogna. I sentimenti d’amore guariscono il deserto dei nostri più grandi problemi, trasformandoli in bellissimi piaceri. Il viaggio di trenta artisti selezionati sul filo di questa complicata ambivalenza, ci fornisce senza concessione alcuna una gamma di complessità, amarezze e passioni generate dalle relazioni umane…’

Time is Love, the itinerant videoart project curated by Kisito Assangni, hosted by different galleries and foundations all over the world, at its fifth edition presented its preview at [.Box] Videoart Project Space in Milan (from 10 to 30 January 2012), and on 14 January will be presented at Savvy Contemporary Art di Berlino. On show videos of 30 artists that investigate the theme of love.

‘The new edition of Time is Love is based on the difficulties experienced by the earthmen to love. Simply love. Being in connection with the Other is not an easy thing in present times. We attend a fold of the individualities, a fainted solidarity and a blatant indifference for the Other. Love is a universal theme, within the reach of each. It comes along with the biggest human sufferings: the refusal, the solitude, the evil to be, the vengeance, the treason, the disappointment, the shame. The loving feelings recover the desert of our biggest troubles as our most beautiful enjoyments. Thirty selected artists venture on the thread of this tricky ambivalence. They deliver us without concession a range of complexities, bitternesses and passions generated by human relationships…’
