Dal 5 dicembre 2012 al 3 marzo 2013 il MOCA, Museo di arte contemporanea di Miami, presenterà una grande esibizione del lavoro del celebre videoartista Bill Viola, dal titolo Liber Insularum. Il progetto sarà presentato in occasione di Art Basel Miami Beach. La mostra di Viola al MOCA rappresenta la prima esposizione pubblica dell’ultimo lavoro dell’artista, Ancestors, che indaga i differenti livelli della realtà nel mondo fisico. La mostra si ispira a The Book of the Islands of the Archipelago, di Florentine ecclesiastic Cristoforo Buondelmonti del 15° secolo. From 5 December to 3 March, The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), North Miami will present a major exhibition of work by Bill Viola, titled Liber Insularum will begin its sole presentation in the United States at MOCA, North Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach. The exhibition at MOCA marks the first public presentation of Viola’s new piece Ancestors, a recently completed video work that explores the layers of reality and illusion in the physical world, as well as the dimensions between and beyond it. His exhibition is inspired by The Book of the Islands of the Archipelago, authored by Florentine ecclesiastic Cristoforo Buondelmonti in the 15th century. The works featured in Liber Insularum (The Book of Islands) use this historic text as a reference point to engage with distinctly modern themes of spiritual isolation in a 21st-century global landscape. MOCA

Il Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) è alla ricerca di video e film per la 14° edizione di Optic Nerve, vetrina del museo dedicata alla video-arte emergente e innovativa.

Una giuria di professionisti ed esperti di cinema e video-arte selezionerà le opere in concorso che saranno presentate in anteprima al Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami il 14 settembre 2012. Optic Nerve sarà ospite anche del centro culturale newyorkese Big Screen Plaza e dalla Cruz Collection Contemporary Art Space di Miami.

Le opere, da inviare entro il 29 luglio, non devono superare i cinque minuti di durata e devono essere state realizzate da non più di due anni. Una delle opere più rappresentative del festival sarà acquisita dal museo.
